Connecting (and reinstalling) your Shopify store
Shopify is a one-click, read-only connection. If you ever uninstall Vibel and come back, reinstalling does not lose your history: it just reconnects.
Connecting the first time
Shopify connects with one click from Settings, Connections, and it only ever reads: orders, refunds, products and fulfilments. Vibel never writes back to your store.
Each storefront is its own connection, so a brand running separate country stores connects each one separately and tags it with its own market.
- 1Open Settings > Connections.
- 2Find Shopify at the top of the connectable sources and start the one-click connect.
- 3Approve the install on Shopify's side.
- 4You are returned to Connections and Shopify shows as connected. The first sync starts in the background.
If 'Develop apps' is turned off
A small number of stores have Shopify's one-click app install disabled by their plan or a prior admin setting. There is a manual fallback: create a custom app under Settings, Apps and sales channels, Develop apps, add the read scopes (read_orders, read_products, read_inventory, read_fulfillments, read_customers, read_returns), install it, then paste either its Admin API access token (shpat_...) or its clientId:clientSecret pair into the Shopify connection field in Vibel. Vibel accepts either form and exchanges clientId:clientSecret for a token automatically.
What happens if you uninstall Vibel
Uninstalling the Vibel app from your Shopify admin does not delete anything on its own. Vibel records the uninstall timestamp and stops being able to read your store, but your synced orders, settings, watchers and creatives stay exactly where they were.
About two days after an uninstall, Shopify sends its own mandatory data-erasure signal (shop_redact) and Vibel honours it then, not before. If you want data gone immediately rather than waiting, see the data-deletion guide.
Reinstalling
Reinstalling is exactly the same one-click flow as the first connection: Settings, Connections, Shopify, approve. There is no separate 'reconnect' step and nothing to migrate by hand.
The moment the install completes, the uninstalled flag on that connection clears automatically and syncing resumes. Nothing about history or settings needs re-entering unless the shop_redact erasure window above already ran.
- If you connect a store under a different myshopify.com domain (a genuine migration, not a reinstall of the same store), that is a new connection, not a reconnect of the old one.
