How Reply knows a DM conversation led to a sale
Reply holds no Shopify data itself. A tracked link carries a token through checkout, Shopify (or Vibel) reports the order back, and Reply matches the token to the conversation that sent it.
Why Reply does not just read your Shopify orders directly
By design, Reply holds conversations, not Shopify data; orders live in Vibel. The link between a DM and a sale is made the other way around: a signal flows from Shopify toward Reply, carrying the one token that identifies which link was clicked.
How the token survives to checkout
Every tracked link Reply sends carries a vbl token. When Vibel's storefront tracking (the pixel's theme app embed) is installed on the same store, it writes that token onto the order's cart attributes on every pageview, so it survives the whole session rather than only the first page a visitor landed on, a real improvement over relying on the landing URL alone, which only ever reflects the FIRST page of a session.
Two ways the order gets back to Reply
Either works, and neither needs the other.
- 1Vibel's own forwarder, once Vibel has the order from Shopify, sends it on to Reply with a signed request.
- 2A native Shopify orders/create webhook pointed straight at Reply, verified with Shopify's own webhook secret. This needs no code on Vibel's side at all; it is a direct Shopify-to-Reply path some setups use instead.
- Until one of these is configured, Reply's inbox is honest about it: it reports conversion revenue as 'not connected', never as a false zero that would read as 'no sales'.
