SEO auto mode: what it does while you sleep
Auto mode runs the AI-visibility loop for you on a schedule: it asks the AI engines your shoppers' questions, finds the ones you are missing from, and drafts a page aimed at the biggest gap. It never publishes anything.
What it is, in one paragraph
Auto mode is the SEO studio running itself. On a schedule you choose, Vibel asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity the questions your shoppers ask, records whether your brand was named, ranks the questions you are most invisible on, and writes a content brief aimed at the biggest of those gaps. The brief lands as a draft for you to read, edit or throw away.
The point is that the measuring and the deciding happen without you. Most merchants know AI visibility matters and never get round to checking it, because checking it by hand means asking four engines a dozen questions every week and writing the answers down.
It never publishes. Ever.
Auto mode produces drafts and suggestions, and stops. Nothing it writes appears on your storefront unless you publish it yourself.
This is deliberate and it will not be changed by a setting. Generated content appearing unannounced on a live store is a worse outcome than slower coverage, so the loop is built to end at your desk.
How it picks what to write
It targets the biggest real gap, not the easiest win. A question you already come first for does not need another article.
Questions are ranked by how badly you are doing on them, weighted by how consistently that holds across the four engines, so one bad answer from one engine never outranks a question you are invisible on everywhere. Questions that already have a draft waiting for you are skipped, so a cycle never re-writes the same page while the first one sits unread.
Turning it on
Auto mode is included on Autopilot and above, because every cycle spends AI credits without a human asking it to. If your plan does not include it the switch will tell you.
- Open SEO studio at /seo.
- Find the auto mode card and switch it on.
- Choose an interval. The default is every 7 days, which suits most stores.
- Wait for the next cycle. Drafts appear in the briefs list on /seo, and the AI-visibility picture updates on /visibility.
Does it crawl anything? Does it touch Search Console?
This is the question people ask most, so here is the exact answer.
Auto mode sends no crawler anywhere. It does not scrape Google, it does not scrape competitors, and it does not send bot traffic to anyone's website. It asks the four AI engines questions through their own paid APIs, the same way any app talks to them, and reads the answers.
It does not write to Search Console either. Vibel reads your Search Console data through Google's official API, with the read-only permission you granted when you connected it, and that is a read. Nothing Vibel does can change your Search Console account, submit URLs, or affect how Google crawls you.
Good to know
- The only thing in Vibel that ever requests a page from your own storefront is SEO drift (see the next article), and it does so politely and on your own domain.
- Question mining uses Google's public suggest endpoint, the same completions the search bar shows as you type. No key, no scraping, no account touched.
What it costs you
Each cycle spends AI credits: four engines, several questions, plus the drafting. That is why it sits on the metered plans and why the interval is yours to set. A 7-day interval on a normal prompt list is a small, predictable monthly cost; a 1-day interval is seven times that for information that rarely moves that fast.
If you want the measuring without the drafting, leave auto mode off. The AI-visibility probes run on their own schedule regardless, so /visibility stays current either way. Auto mode is the half that acts.
